Date: 27 October 2011 Time: 7.30 pm

Venue: Capstone

Sonic interactions showcases an evening of new electroacoustic music exploring the colourful and exciting fusion of instruments and live electronics featuring contemporary music ensemble Trio Atem (Gavin Osborn, Nina Whiteman and Alice Purton). The evening will also include a mix of interactive and acousmatic music by composers - Cathrine Clover, Felipe Otondo, Petra Bachrata, Ian Percy and Manuella Blackburn.Trio Atem was formed in 2007, when regular collaborators Gavin Osborn (flute) and Nina Whiteman (voice) invited Alice Purton ('cello) to join them for a performance of Helmut Lachenmann's temA. They are quickly gaining a reputation for their interpretations of challenging works from recent repertoire and for their engaging, dynamic performances. The trio have appeared at a number of contemporary music festivals (York Late Music Festival, Leeds University contemporary music festival) and are currently Ensemble in Association at the Novars electroacoustic studios, The University of Manchester. Work in education has also included a series of workshops for schools developed by the trio. Trio Atem are open to playing music of any style and are at home working with electronics, graphic notation, and improvised music.
