The place of 'voice' in collaborative online learning: A phenomenology.

This seminar presents for the first time the speaker's PhD research into the experiences of postgraduate online and distance learning students use of audio-conferencing. What kind of a place is 'voice' for collaborative online learning? The research is based on a social constructivist view of learning and uses phenomenology as a research methodology.

Although phenomenology is used in human science research e.g. psychology, sociology, nursing and anthropology, its use in education is less prevalent. This seminar will outline the research context and in particular focus on the researcher's decisions in selecting phenomenology for this human science enquiry. Early data is presented along with analytical processes currently in progress.
