SLLAT research group: talk by Dr. Almudena Fernandez Fontecha on 'Motivation, age and gender in L2 receptive and productive vocabulary'
Date: 22 April 2013 Time: 16.00 - 17.30 pm
Venue: Bowland North SR 27
Dr. Almudena Fernandez Fontecha is a visiting researcher from the University of La Rioja in Spain. She will give a talk about 'Motivation, age and gender in L2 receptive and productive vocabulary'. Abstract:The relationship between learners' motivation and foreign language achievement has been widely reported in the literature. In general terms, a large number of studies report a positive connection between both. In recent years, research has focused on analysing how motivation interacts with some of the components of a foreign language, such as the vocabulary. This talk summarizes research conducted by the GLAUR research group (Applied Linguistics Group at the University of La Rioja, Spain - http://glaur.unirioja.es/) on motivation and EFL vocabulary acquisition by considering types of vocabulary acquisition (productive and receptive), learners' age and sex, or the effect of the task.
