Theory into practice, practice into action: discourse analysis in organizational consultancy

Gill Ereaut, founding partner of consulting company Linguistic Landscapes, will give a talk on how to use linguistics and discourse analysis in organisational consultancy. Drawing on 12 years of experience of working with multinationals, public sector organisations and NGOs, she will show howorganisationscan improve their effectiveness through changing the way they think about and use language. The talk will address the hidden but powerful way internal language interacts with organisational culture and strategy - and how it can get in the way of change.
Beyond that, Gill Ereaut will outline what career options are open to you whenyou graduate witha degree in Linguistics or English language, or have integrated courses on corporate communication and workplace discourse into your degree. The talk is aimed at Part II undergraduate as well as postgraduatestudents.
