Funding Successes for Forthcoming Projects

Date: 24 June 2014

Congratulations to colleagues who have secured funding from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for forthcoming research projects and events.

Dr Liz Oakley-Brown has been awarded £1722 for the 'home' event for the Early Modern Roses Seminar.

Following the highly successful first event co-organised with Dr Kevin Killeen from York University on 'Time and Early Modern Thought' which took place at York University and York Minster in May 2014, a one-and-a-half -day research seminar, 'Scrutinising Surfaces in Early Modern Thought' will take place at the Storey, Lancaster and in Lancaster Priory on 8th and 9th May 2015.

Dr Zoe Lambert has been awarded around £2,000 to run a summer creative writing project with young carers (aged 16-25) at Manchester Carers Centre.

The project will culminate in a pamphlet and launch event with the help of the 'Writing on the Wall' Festival.

Dr Brian Baker and Dr Amit Thakkar (DELC) have been awarded £1900 to host the 'Border Masculinities' symposium.

This symposium is an interdisciplinary event considering contemporary representations of masculinity, and will take place on 19th and 20th September 2014. Please see http://www.bordermasculinities.wordpress.com for further information.
