The Department of Educational Research was established at Lancaster in 1967 and is recognised for its excellence in terms of both teaching and research. The Department is one of the UK's leading centres for educational research. We received a Grade 5 in the 2001, 1996 and 1992 Research Assessment Exercises (RAE), denoting an international level of excellence. The Department benefits from its location within a very strong Faculty of Arts and Social Science(FASS), which also has a history of excellence in research (84% of the Faculty's staff are in Grade 5/5* departments). Many research collaborations exist between members of the different departments in the Faculty enabling a lively, interdisciplinary research culture. We also have strong links with Lancaster's Grade 5* Management School through our overlapping interests in areas such as technology-assisted professional learning, activity systems and higher education.
Closing Date for Applications: 13th March, 2009
Interviews for shortlisted candidates: 31st March, 2009
In addition to these 4 awards the University offers 2 interdisciplinary studentships. In order to be considered for those awards the proposed area of research should be cross disciplinary, which in most cases would be inter-departmental, with supervisors based in different departments. Interview dates for these will be different.
