Announcing two new CEMORE funding opportunities!

Date: 16 July 2013

We are pleased to announce that recent successes have allowed the Directorate of CEMORE to commit funds to two new Centre schemes. Both are detailed below, with application deadlines in early September 2013.

CEMORE Visiting Fellowship

Targeted at anyone whose research interests intersect with those of CEMORE, this fellowship, which must be taken-up between October 2013 and June 2014, comes with a £2,000 stipend which may be used to cover expenses such as travel, accommodation in Lancaster, and research activities during the fellowship. Fellows will be expected to spend a minimum of 1 calendar month in residence at CEMORE, and will be also expected to deliver 1 research seminar, 1 PhD student master class and to write a blog about your work at CEMORE. Other commitments will be agreed as appropriate (e.g. guest lectures on undergraduate or Masters programmes).

We will be awarding 1 fellowship for 2013-2014. To apply for the fellowship, please submit a CV with a 1 page covering letter detailing (1) how your research connects to Cemore, (2) what you plan to do during your time in Lancaster, (3) how you might build long term connections to the Centre via the fellowship. The CEMORE Directorate will assess applications, ranking applications using the 3 criteria.

Deadline for applications is27 September 2013; we hope to make decisions by the end of September 2013.

All applications should be submitted to Pennie Drinkall - p.drinkall@lancaster.ac.uk. Queries may be directed to Prof. James Faulconbridge (CEMORE Director of Research) - email j.faulconbridge@lancaster.ac.uk

CEMORE Pump Priming funding - for Lancaster-based researchers

Applications are invited from Lancaster-based members of CEMORE (or Lancaster-based individuals who believe their research connects to the agenda of CEMORE) for pump priming funding up to the value of £1,000. Applications for smaller sums are particularly encouraged - we expect to make several awards in the region of £500 each.

Funding could be used in any way deemed beneficial to CEMORE's agenda - examples would include workshops, pilot research, communication/impact activities etc. But please note this is NOT a conference travel fund. All funding must be spent before 1st July 2014.

Applications should take the form of a 1-page document that outlines (1) the academic rationale of the research, (2) the activities that will be funded, (3) budget and timescales. Assessment based on the three criteria (in terms of budget we will consider value for money) and will be made by the Directorate of CEMORE.
