David Starkey - Henry VIII: Five Hundred Years of Fame, 1509-2009

Lancaster often hosts lectures from nationally- and internationally-renowned historians. Eminent historian and television presenter Dr David Starkey visited Lancaster in September 2009 to give a public lecture commemorating the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Henry VIII. Cumbria-born Dr Starkey has had huge success at bringing history to a mass audience. He has maintained links with the region and in 2004 he was presented with an Honorary Degree from Lancaster University. More than 400 members of the public, staff and students came to hear him talk, and you can watch the conclusion of his lecture, entitled ‘Henry VIII: Five Hundred Years of Fame, 1509-2009’ below.
