Date:1 & 2 July 2010
Time:1 July: 18.00 - 20.15; 2 July: 10.00 - 16.00

The Design PhD Conference is a collaborative event between the School of Design, Northumbria University and ImaginationLancaster at Lancaster University.

The conference offers an opportunity for PhD students, Masters students, recent graduates and businesses to meet, exchange knowledge and ideas, and learn about the latest developments in design thinking, methods and research projects. The aim of this conference is to facilitate debate and the sharing of experiences concerning practice led research 'for', 'into', and 'through' designing, as well as exploring the nature of communities involved. At this conference 'designing' will be defined as developing and organising greater benefit in our creative processes and the outcomes.

Professor Mike Press will provide the keynote presentation to launch this year's conference entitled 'Practice Led Research and Communities of Practice', which will discuss the value of practice-led research, highlight exemplars and suggest how this research can be developed further in the future.

The cost for the 2 day conference is £60. For further information and to register for this event, please visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/designevents. Select the PhD Conference event and complete the short application form. The School of Design will invoice for the conference in August 2010.
