Confronting Secularism

Date: 11-12 May 2011 Time: 10.00-17.00 pm

Venue: Bowland North SR20

Twentieth-century attempts to administer societies along secular lines have masked a question that goes to the heart of authority, society and community: what is it which now binds Western societies together? This workshop explores these questions along three related lines: the political, the philosophical, and the religious, asking what resources these three approaches offer to those seeking to restore legitimacy to our societies and to investigate the bases of community.
