BA Philosophy Part II Modules

2nd year core options

Second year modules are 15 credit modules (1 term) and 30 credit modules ( 2 terms) 90 credits must be chosen from the core list below. The remaining 30 credits can be freely chosen from all second year modules in PPR.

  • PPR202: Ethics: Theory and Practice
  • PPR204: Philosophy of Mind
  • PPR210: Philosophy of Science
  • PPR211: Philosophical Questions in the Study of Politics and Economics
  • PPR212: Metaphysics
  • PPR213: Epistemology
  • PPR220: Modern Political Thought
  • PPR243: Constructing Ethics: Christianity and Islam
  • PPR244: Western Philosophy and Religious Thought

3rd year core options

All modules are 15 credits and run in either Michaelmas or Lent (except the dissertation units which are 30 credits). There is the option (but not requirement) to take a dissertation unit. Please choose from one of the following 3 options:

1. Six half modules chosen from the core list (below), plus two half-unit modules that may be freely chosen from across the range of third year modules in PPR

2. A dissertation unit plus 4 half modules chosen from the core list (below) plus two half-unit modules that may be freely chosen from across the range of third year modules in PPR.

3. A dissertation unit, plus 1 full unit module chosen from the second year core list (to be counted as a third year module), plus 2 half- unit modules that from the third year list, plus two half-unit modules that may be freely chosen from across the range of third year modules in PPR.

  • PPR349: Politics and Ethics in Indian Philosophy
