"Chuckle Stop!"

One way to make new words is to use acronyms (words composed of the initial letters of a phrase or sentence).

The following letter appeared in The Independent in response to an article on city living:

"We lived as Dinks (double income no kids), survived as Sinks (single income no kids), and now recognise ourselves as Clams (city living active matures). We await the next stage with some resignation - stay homes, into television soaps."
