The club, initiated by Amanda Taylor at UCLAN, brings together social work students and academics from 6 social work programmes in the UK via live streaming and twitter. It isa strategy designed to support traditional teaching methods and further consolidate knowledge, learning and development within social work education programmes. Each club has a visiting professor whose role istoprovide students with an opportunity to engage pro-actively with research and as a result enables them to apply this learning to the fictional characters and circumstances being explored.
At the moment the book club is hosted by UCLAN and streamed live for others to view and tweet into@SWBookClub.
At Lancaster we will be meeting informally in the hour (4-5pm) before the club s to discuss the book over coffee and cake before watching the live stream(5pm) and tweeting our contribution/questions.
