On completion of the course you will have developed an understanding of best practice in terms of managing staff performance and will have developed a range of skills to enhance your ability to routinely lead and manage staff. You will have increased your understanding of the behaviours and motivation of others and explored a range of tactics to engage staff and improved your own ability to manage staff performance.
Duration, attendance and delivery
You will start with 2 full day interactive workshops usually in weeks 1 and 4. There will also be a mix of on-line, flexible, facilitated learning and some self-study. 1-1 tutorials are available to support you to meet the assessment requirements.
The module will last approximately 10 weeks. Notionally a 10-credit module means an average of around 100 learning hours; this includes attendance at workshops, tutorials, self-study, reflection, learning and application at work as well as completing activities and assessments.
We also provide support with study skills for those who are new to study at this level or who may not have studied for some time.
At the end of the module you will undertake an assessment. This is a work based assessment rather than just a theory based essay. Typically you will be required to apply what you have learnt to your practice, evaluating concepts for their applicability and usefulness.
The assessment format may be a written exercise, in-class presentation, project report or another appropriate method. To give you an indication, a written piece would be around 2000 words in length.
You will need to be in a work role (paid or unpaid) which allows you the scope to put the concepts learned into practice.
