NHS England Test Beds - The Lancashire and Cumbria Innovation Alliance (LCIA)

The Lancashire and Cumbria Innovation Alliance (LCIA) has been awarded the opportunity to take part in NHS England’s Test Bed, a two year pilot looking at how the use of technology can help provide modernised, innovative healthcare. The LCIA Test Bed is one of seven across England. It is hosted by Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and is made up of several partners including Lancaster Health Hub, the Fylde Coast vanguard and the Better Care Together vanguard, as well as several innovators who, led by Philips, bring with them a wealth of expertise in a variety of healthcare technologies. The purpose of this Test Bed is to provide frail and older people living with dementia or other long term conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or diabetes the opportunity to use technology to improve their overall health and wellbeing so they can stay will in the community and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions.

The Alliance is working with the two vanguard areas in Lancashire as part of their new models of care initiative and are busy finalising the last few details in readiness for the recruitment of their first patient! The Test Bed team is currently out on the road and taking the Front Room on Tour! This allows staff and members of the public to find out more about the programme itself and try out some of the kit. The roadshow will next be visiting Fleetwood and Lytham in November and dates are currently being arranged for North Lancashire, so keep your eyes open for updates on Twitter @LancashireCare.

If you would like more information about the project, or would like to visit the Test Bed team and mock-up front room at their base in Wesham, please contact testbed@lancashirecare.nhs.uk
