The QAA Code of practice for the assurance of academic quality and standards in higher education states that postgraduate research students are expected to receive around 10 days' skills training per year.
Students can accumulate credits that count towards this figure by undertaking a variety of activities. These are not limited to the completion of taught courses although these will count where appropriate.
Research students in the Faculty of Health and Medicine are able to access the relevant research training courses offered by the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Graduate School, depending on your chosen research specialism.
The courses offered are designed to complement more specialised subject or discipline-based training courses.
