What Will You Study

The BSc Bioscience with Entrepreneurship has been specially designed for those with an interest in a range of Bioscience topics and who are looking to understand the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship and innovation. No prior study of Business or Entrepreneurship is required for entry onto this degree.

Biosciences are fundamental to our understanding of many of the key issues facing human society today, from the development of new treatments for diseases to the need to produce sufficient food to feed the increasing global population. Bioscience is a fast-paced, innovative environment that increasingly requires graduates who are not only leading scientists, but those who also have an entrepreneurial mind-set.

The world is continually changing and every business, small or large, needs people with entrepreneurial skills and behaviours. Entrepreneurship is about being equipped to identify new opportunities, knowing how to act on them, and making a difference – it is not just about business start-up, but is applicable within a range of different contexts.

The degree offers a broad range of Bioscience and Entrepreneurship modules for you to choose from, so you can tailor your degree to suit your own interests and career aspirations, especially in your second and third years.

You will be taught by subject experts from both the Department of Biomedical and Life Sciences and Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). Lancaster University is ranked fifth in the UK for Biological Sciences by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and our Management School is recognised as one of the few business schools in the world to hold quadruple accreditation.

The facilities for studying Biosciences at Lancaster University are excellent. We have invested over £4 million in new life science teaching laboratories where you will be developing your practical biomedical and life science skills.
