"Lancaster University was originally my insurance choice, but I am really happy that I came to this university and have enjoyed every moment I have spent here. The best part of the course for me was the laboratory practicals: I gained hands-on experience using numerous biochemical techniques that are commonly employed both in industry and research."

- Nikolett continued into PhD research at Lancaster University
"One of the attractions was the small cohort of students and choosing Lancaster was the best thing I've ever done. The challenge really is intense but everyone is friendly and I'm enjoying it. I'm living in a house in Lancaster at the moment and doing a week placement in Barrow, which is great.
"I have just completed my elective in Tanzania over the summer and I would love the chance to go abroad and perhaps work for a charity for several months at some point during my career."
MBChB Medicine and Surgery
- Alexandra studied at Casterton School before taking a degree at Liverpool University in physiology. She chose Lancaster University for medicine because of the small numbers of students on the course.
"The Lancaster University medical course is one that permits the student to govern their own learning, whilst also providing intense teaching within a clinical setting from an early onset. By Year 2 students are out in the local hospitals, which allows great opportunity to practise their skills and see a vast array of interesting cases. The Lancaster course also permits students to carry out electives early on during their training. I recently returned from an elective in New Zealand, which was one of the best experiences of my life."

"I absolutely loved my time at Lancaster University. From my very first visit to the campus, I knew that Lancaster was definitely going to be the place for me, and I’ve been proven right with a fantastic three years.
The staff have been so helpful at every step of the way, from picking my first year modules to putting the finishing touches to my dissertation, they’ve all been fantastic. Possibly the best thing I’ve found about the lecturers at Lancaster is how their enthusiasm for their subjects inspires you to want to learn more, it really is infectious!"
BSc Hons Biological Sciences
"I was first attracted to Lancaster University by the course; Biology with Psychology gave me the opportunity to study in two different fields, choosing the parts of each which were of particular interest. As well as this, the University has an excellent academic reputation, a great campus and a real sense of community.
The research-focussed teaching was a particular highlight for me. Not only did I receive a solid grounding in the basic principles, but was taught about cutting edge research, often by the researcher themselves."
BSc Hons Biology with Psychology
"Throughout my time at Lancaster I have been supported by tutors and advisors on all aspects of University life and my career – there is a clear sense that the University really does care about your future. I chose Biomedical Science as my course as it perfectly suited my medical-based interests in biology, but there is real scope across the entire department to tailor your degree to suit you."
BSc Hons Biomedical Science
"Lancaster surpassed all of my expectations academically and otherwise, I’ve enjoyed some incredibly valuable experiences that I’m confident I wouldn’t have had at any other University."
BSc Hons Biochemistry
"I have developed varied laboratory skills, gained invaluable hospital and research experience, and was taught by researchers at the forefront of their fields. I also had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Florida (the absolute greatest year of my life!), allowing me to network, find wonderful new friends and incredible opportunities; I couldn’t recommend it enough!"
