VirRAD: the Virtual Radiopharmacy

Summary: Aim: To create a readily accessible virtual environment where the Radiopharmacist community can meet to learn, exchange views and discuss best practice. Objectives: To create a constructivist instructional design based on Mindful learning theory, with a multi-layered meta-cognitive learner model within the context of an intelligent, virtual reality enhanced, distance learning environment for professional development. This environment will be embedded in an enriched learning structure that gathers learners, practitioners and specialists in a knowledge-learning community. VirRAD will investigate the integration of a personalised, yet social learning environment with a multi-user 3-D virtual radiopharmacy, video based learning resources and a community discussion space. Training material will be tailored to the syllabus of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine but can also be integrated into teaching in North America.

Funding: European Commission IST Programme, from March 2002 to Feb 2005, about £500,000 of total budget of 4 million Euros.

Aim: To create a readily accessible virtual environment where the Radiopharmacist community can meet to learn, exchange views and discuss best practice.
