Dealing With PDF and Other Documents

• Adobe has advice on how to create accessiblePDF documents at: If in doubt, always provide documents in Word or RTF or invite users to contact you for a copy of the document in an accessible format.

PDF documents should only be used for printing purposes. Don't assume that all disabled users can access this software.

• Word docs are only accessible if users have the correct version installed on their machine.

• Use rtf or plain HTML wherever possible.

• Wherever possible, avoid opening new browser windows, but if essential, you should give the user a warning.
