Get Ready For Your Graduation

What you need to do before your ceremony

Online registration

We will email all eligible students in March 2016 with details of how and when to register online to attend your ceremony.

During the registration process you will:

  • Confirm your attendance at your graduation ceremony
  • Request your guest tickets
  • Confirm any specific access/seating or other needs for you and your guests.

Guest tickets

Two guest tickets will be guaranteed if you book by the Mid April deadline which we will confirm with you in our March email.  See our guest tickets policy for more information.

You should register to attend your ceremony even if you are unsure of the outcome of your course so that we can allocate guest tickets to you on the basis that we hope that you will be able to graduate.  See our guest tickets policy for more information.

We will inform you in the March email, the date on which you will be able to check your guest ticket allocation. Tickets will then be sent out to colleges to await collection at the beginning of June. You will have around 1 month to collect your tickets from your college. After this time, they will be held for you at the Graduation ticket office for collection on the day of your ceremony.

For guests without tickets, all ceremonies will also be streamed live in the nearby Faraday Lecture Theatres.

Graduation dress code

Graduation is a formal occasion and we regret that graduating students who are not dressed smartly may be turned away from their ceremony. In keeping with the academic nature of the occasion and ceremonial tradition, all students wishing to attend their graduation ceremony must wear the correct academic dress. Normal wear under gowns is a suit and tie for men and a plain dress or skirt/trouser suit for women.  Please note, plain colours look best under the robes.

The hood colours for Undergraduate degrees can be viewed here.

Order your gown

All gowns are booked through the University's official robemakers, Ede and Ravenscroft.

We will provide details of how to book your gown online in our March email.

Clear any debts

If you are have any academic debts to the University you will be unable to graduate.  If you are in any doubt check your financial clearance online.
