What you need to know on your graduation day.

Graduation day information

If you have collected your graduation tickets, you will also have found enclosed with them a Graduation Day Leaflet with a campus map, indicating the location of all Graduation Day activities.  As graduands are required to line up in processional order one hour before the ceremony, important information concerning your Lining Up Venue is also outlined in the leaflet.

Arrival on campus

Two hours before your ceremony, please arrive on campus and make your way to collect your robes. No parking charges operate on Graduation Day so you can park for free in any marked space on campus, except Blue Badge spaces, for which you must hold and display a valid Blue Badge. For further information on parking spaces please see our campus map.  If spaces near to the Great Hall are full, you may wish to drop off guests opposite the Chaplaincy Centre and park elsewhere.

Robe collection

Collect your robes from the LICA building and make your way to the Great Hall.

Robes will be available for collection on the day of your graduation at the following times:

Your robes must also be returned on the same day by the following times:

Tuesday- 7pm

Wednesday -5pm

Thursday and Friday- 5.30pm

Photography

Lancaster University's Print & Photography are the official University photographers and will have their sales and studio area conveniently located adjacent to the Robing area in LICA. Orders can't be taken in advance of your ceremony but all their products may be ordered on the day at their sales area. Please see the Print & Photography website for more information. Lining up

One hour before your ceremony, report to your lining up venue in the Great Hall, leaving personal items such as handbags with your guests. Details of lining up venues will be included with your tickets and will appear here once available. During the lining up process, you will be briefed on the ceremony, put into processional order and given your name card (from which your name will be read on stage). Following lining up, you will process into the Great Hall about 15 minutes before the start of your ceremony. Guests should arrive to be ushered to their seats one hour before the ceremony begins.

The ceremony

The entrance of the academic procession formally opens the Ceremony which will last about an hour. During the ceremony you should follow the directions of Marshals who will guide you through what you should be doing and when.

Live Webcast

We offer a live webcast of each ceremony on Graduation Day. 

Guests without tickets to the ceremony can watch the ceremony live on big screens in the Faraday Building. This venue is staffed and fully accessible, with Degree Day programmes available on request.  No tickets are required for the live broadcast venue.

The Hub: 8.30am – 4pm serving breakfasts, lunch, snacks and Costa coffee.

The Mill at Fylde: 10am – 8pm 4pm serving breakfasts, main meals, snacks and alcohol.

Café 21: 8.30am – 4.30pm 4pm serving vegan & vegetarian breakfasts, lunch, snacks and coffee.

The Northern Oak at County: 9am – 6pm 4pm serving Costa coffee, snacks & alcohol.

Graduate Bar: 8pm - 11pm

Trevor, Furness: 11am onwards

Grizedale: Midday onwards

The Trough of Bowland: Midday – 8pm
