Patrick Hagopian awarded Fellowship at Smithsonian

The History Department is delighted to announce that Dr. Patrick Hagopian has been appointed the

Patricia and Phillip Frost Senior Fellow for 2014-2015 at the Smithsonian Institution's American Art Museum. He will begin his tenure at the museum on January 1, 2015, working on a project entitled"The Concept of the Heroic in Recent Commemorative Public Statuary in Washington, D.C."

The research will build on Hagopian's 2009 book, The Vietnam War in American Memory, which Michael Kammen called an "extraordinary book," and on his article on the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the most downloaded article in the history of the journal Public Art Dialogue (http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/21502552.2012.719757 ).
