Choice and Flexibility
You can combine History with other subjects: English Literature, Politics, Philosophy, International Relations, Religious Studies, French, German or Spanish. If you choose History as your major, you can still take a minor option in a range of subjects, for example, Politics, Philosophy, Economics, Sociology or Theatre.
Learn a Language
You can use the flexibility of the degree structure to learn a new language or improve your language skills. In your first year, you can learn Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish or German from scratch or pursue advanced study of French, German or Spanish.
There is a range of opportunities to study at a university overseas. You can spend a year at a university in United States, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand, or you can apply to study at one of our partner institutions in Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna or Copenhagen. There are also opportunities to undertake study, travel and voluntary work in China, India, Ghana and Malaysia.
As part of your degree, you can get work experience with one of our Heritage partner organizations. Students have curated exhibitions, built on-line resources and worked with a range of museum materials, from texts and oral history recordings to archaeological remains.
