The PDR Conversation: Setting Meaningful Objectives
Is this course for me?
This session focuses on the role of the reviewee in the PDR process. It focuses on how to maximise the benefit of your PDR conversation, focus on your core needs and develop meaningful objectives that will help to enhance your professional practice. .
The course covers: definitions and purposes of objectives; how objectives are derived; types of objectives and their relevance to different staff groups; how objectives can be measured; practice in writing objectives.
At the end of the course you will be able to:
- Identify the purposes of objectives
- Describe a range of approaches to objective-setting
- Write meaningful objectives based upon faculty, department and local plans, and performance requirements
- Identify quantitative and qualitative measures to monitor progress
This programme can also be delivered locally. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their objectives or job description with them.
