The Careers Information Room contains a wide range of information on:
Occupations - a complete A to Z of available options
Employers - in depth information on a variety of individual employers and professional bodies
Further study and training - up to date information on the courses and funding available
Applications procedures - a wealth of information of the construction of CVs, application forms, preparing for interviews and assessment centres and practise materials for psychometric tests
Job vacancies and job vacancy sources e.g. web links, national and local newspapers and professional journals
Computer access - to carry out careers related research
Videos/DVDs - on employers, careers information and applications procedures.
The Information Room is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. If you would like a free tour of our facilities please call Borg Thorn, Information Officer, on 592746 to book an appointment.
You can also access a vast range of careers information from our web site 24 hours a day.
Prospects Planner, a computer package that generate career ideas by helping you examine your skills, interests and motivations, can be used in the Careers Information Room. There is no need to book an appointment to use the system, although you may like to arrange to see a Careers Consultant afterwards to discuss the career ideas generated. There is also a short online version of this system
Employers visit the campus on a weekly basis to talk about the career opportunities they have and also attend the annual Career Opportunities Fair in October. Careers also run the Directions Programme in the Lent Term where Lancaster alumni visit to talk about their careers and employers run various free skill development workshops e.g. team building and leadership.
