Facilities at the Institute for Advanced Studies

IAS buidingThe IAS building opened in August 2005. It provides a flexible and integrated mix of research "club" space, facilitating high autonomy interactive discussion and research collaboration, and flexible research "cell" space for private scholarship and research.

The ground floor provides the 'front door' to the Institute, comprising the Food for Thought Cafe (open 9:00-16:00 Monday-Friday), plus a mix of well-equipped, interlinked and flexible meeting rooms, exhibition space and a staffed reception area. The ESRC-funded Access Grid Node is also located here.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting room space in the building can be used for departmental seminars, workshops, and conferences, with priority going to IAS-related activities. To book a room in the IAS please visit the central room booking site here.(See terms and conditions)

B floor houses the Arts and Social Sciences Faculty Offices.

C floor provides space for the IAS administrative offices and facilities for Visiting Fellows.

C and D floors also provide research laboratory space both for funded research centres and other funded research activities and for short-term research collaboration including: ESRC Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics, AHRC/ESRC Religon & Society, and Centre for Mobilities Research (CeMoRe) Lab
