Material Culture and Consumption Research GroupSummary: Established in 2001, the Material Culture and Consumption Research Group cross-disciplinary/departmental in nature and has interests in all aspects of material culture and consumption including: commodities, objects and social relations, everyday consuming practices, advertising, spatiality and consumption, promotional practices, museums and collections, politics of display and spectacle, design, time and consumption, history as materiality, gendered consumer discourses, markets and marketing, disposal and waste. The group includes members from departments at Lancaster such as American Studies, English, History, Institute for Cultural Research, Marketing and Management, Sociology, Theatre Studies and Women's Studies. It is currently co-ordinated by Anne Cronin (Sociology/Institute of Cultural Research) and Kevin Hetherington (Sociology), who is currently editor of the journal museum and society.
