Annual Research Programme 2006-07: Regions and Regionalism in and beyond Europe

Please note: This programme has now ended.

The core of the programme was a series of five colloquia which took place at Lancaster between October 2006 and July 2007.

The themes covered by the series included: economics, gender, international comparison, mobility, security, regional policy-making and the state, the urban-rural divide, past and present, landscape and culture.

The colloquia were supplemented by a number of related activities and theprogramme culminated in an international conference Performing Regions, Regional Performance, at Lancaster University on September 17-19 2007.

 

Aims and Objectives

  • to provide a forum for academic debate involving internationally reputed experts in the field;European map
  • to stimulate publications in the form of electronic working papers, articles in specialist journals and anthologies;
  • to provide the framework for major interdisciplinary research bids to external funding bodies for research in EU-related fields;
  • to complement the work of existing projects and to promote the dissemination of their outcomes;
  • to strengthen collaboration between partners in inter-institutional networks within and beyond Europe.
