Visitors can access the internet and IT at Lancaster University using the following methods:

  • Wi-Fi - access to the internet via Wi-Fi on the visitor's laptop, tablet or phone.
  • Restricted IT Account - access to log in to University PCs and IT Systems.

Internet Access via Wi-Fi

If your visitor requires access to the internet on their own laptop, tablet or phone they can use Wi-Fi to connect. They do not require a University IT account to connect to Wi-Fi, and you do not need to contact ISS in advance.

There are two different Wi-Fi networks available. If your visitor already has access to Eduroam, they should connect automatically. Alternatively, they can connect to LU-Visitor Wi-Fi then follow the instructions to register. If required, direct your visitor to: How to: Connect to Visitor Wi-Fi at Lancaster University.

Access to University PCs and IT Systems 

If your visitor is eligible to access University PCs and IT Systems, a Restricted IT Account may be created. This will allow them to log in to University PC's, for example in offices, learning labs and teaching spaces.

Your nominated departmental submitter will need to create a Restricted IT account in advance of the visitor arrival. The account information will be emailed directly to the visitor.
