For those who are registered for MOS modules we are offering workshop sessions and exam slots throughout the Summer.

MOS Pre Assessment Workshops

These sessions are ideal for those who have worked through the self-study e-book and want to have a recap/refresher of the book. Each workshop will help you prepare for a MOS exam. Workshops will cover advanced features and exam tips and techniques.

Please note: five bookings are needed for a session to run, otherwise they will be cancelled. These sessions will be available on a first come first served basis. For all enquiries please contact ISS training (

Prerequisite: you need to have completed the self-study e-book along with the associated practice files.

MOS exams

All exams are performance-based, in a live or simulated environment. Pass mark varies, usually 700 points (of possible 1000). Printed results are available at the end of the exam. Exams take place in one of the Training Suites on C Floor of the Library. Dates are subject to change, dependent on confirmed bookings.

You have to wait at least 24 hours before taking a re-sit on the first failed attempt.  Then at least 48 hours for any consequent re-sit.

To book your exam, please email no later than three days prior to the exam taking place, stating your name, exam date and time slot plus the exam module (e.g Word). On the day of the exam please bring your photo ID (e.g. Lancaster University Library Card) with you.
