ITAL301i: Italian Language: Written and Reading Skills (CEFR: B2)

Final year

This module is a half unit and is integrated with the Italian Language: Oral Skills module.

This module together with the oral skills module consists of three hours tuition per week.

The aim of this module is to enhance students’ knowledge of grammar and to develop their Italian language skills through translation and guided composition.

In first term students develop English-Italian translation skills, they learn to compare translations with original texts, and discuss the use of monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. Students will also improve their essay writing skills.

In second term students learn Italian to English translation in turn, and the emphasis is put on the reinforcement of guided composition.
