Law and Criminology Alumni

I chose to study Law and Criminology at Lancaster University because of the University's excellent reputation; now recognised as one of the top ten universities in the UK.

The challenge of a demanding subject such as law, combined with criminology, excited me and staff were friendly and extremely supportive. The excellence of the law department enabled me to achieve a good degree by providing constant challenge and support when needed, at the same time allowing me space and materials for independent study.

Opportunities are arranged by both the law school and the student run law society to help students develop their legal work experience, and the relevant skills needed for a career in law. I actively involved myself in the student run law society (I was Sports Secretary for 2013/2014) and activities (such as dining at Lincoln's Inn, visiting magic circle law firms in London and competing in negotiation and mooting competitions) to broaden and develop my experience.

Whilst on various legal work placements, it was encouraging to note how well received and respected a Law degree from Lancaster University was. I am now able to realise my goal of becoming a solicitor by studying for my MA (LPC with Business) at BPP University, Manchester. The prospect of moving to a new city with one of my closest friends from my time at Lancaster is very exciting, knowing that we will be starting the next chapter of our legal careers together.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying Law and Criminology at Lancaster University and would recommend the course, the law school teaching staff and the overall 'Lancaster University experience' to anyone.
