My research investigates the role of phytohormones (especially ethylene and ABA) in the environmental control of adventitious rooting. Adventitious rooting is a plant acclimative trait that allows for vegetative propagation of plants from tissue such as shoots or leaves. There is a great variaiton on genotypic and environmental levels.

Studies are conducted in both stock plants and subsequent cuttings using exogenous, endogenous measurements of physiological and molecular variables.

The reseach has potential to produce a number of practical applications for improving rooting in commercial plant propagation, forestry and habitat regeneration programmes. Such improvements include light manipulation technologies and irrigation management.
