Professor Nick Ostle

Professor

Nick’s scientific expertise is on the effects of global changes in climate and land use on plant-soil ecology and ecosystem biogeochemistry. His research examines the impacts of change on carbon cycling, biodiversity, macronutrient dynamics and plant productivity in grasslands peatlands, forests and agricultural ecosystems. Work is ongoing in Arctic heathland, Boreal forests, South American and Chinese altitudinal gradients as well as in European agricultural systems.  Research includes desk, field and laboratory studies of interactions between key plant-soil properties and their influence on ecosystem services.
