My research focuses on applying isotope techniques in understanding subsurface crustal fluid systems. Particularly I am interested in developing noble gas isotopes as tools in energy and environmental studies. I work on using the combination of noble gases, stable C/H isotopes, isotopologues of CO2/CH4 and other environmental tracers (CFCs, SF6 etc.) to study processes associated with CO2 geological sequestration and enhanced oil recovery; generation, migration and accumulation of oil and gases in unconventional reservoirs; the fate and environmental impact of fracking fluid and the released gases in shale gas exploration; groundwater age dating and its application in hydrogeological modeling and pollution control.
