Speaker: Philip Donkersley
Location: LEC Training room 2, Gordon Manley Building
Having recently completed a BBSRC funded work placement with the National Assembly of Wales, I have had the opportunity to bridge the gap between academia and government research. This seminar will attempt to describe how these two approaches to science differ and how, more importantly, they can work for the benefit of each other. The seminar will further address the importance of presenting academic research for policy makers and why this is particularly important for raising the impact of one’s research. Finally, the seminar will explain how to get onto future policy placements, the various funding bodies that run and fund the placements and the organisations that they take place with.
