LEC staff and research students bring fun and knowledge sharing to the 100th birthday celebrations of the British Ecological Society.
The 100th birthday celebrations of the British Ecological Society were held August 19 – 23 in London at the International Congress of Ecology (Intecol), which is held every 4 years.
LEC PhD students Hannah Griffiths, Tom Walker, Catherine Baxendale and Iain Gould were involved in one of the celebration highlights, the ‘Sex & Bugs & Rock ‘n Roll’ roadshow. This British Ecological Society initiative has been touring UK music festivals this summer to demonstrate the fun side of ecological science with entertaining hands-on activities.
Also at Intercol, LEC’s Dr Jos Barlow hosted a workshop on Applied Ecology in Emerging Economies, and Professor Ken Wilson co-organised a Symposium on Wildlife Disease Ecology.
Congratulations to all those involved, especially LEC’s Dr Jo Randall, who has been elected to the Council of the British Ecological Society as the Early Career Representative.
