Did you do better than expected in your exams or just miss your target by a grade? Lancaster Environment Centre has a few places left for well qualified students in geography, environmental and biological sciences.
Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) is one of the top places in the country to study and Environmental Sciences, according to the 2015 Guardian League Table which placed us sixth in the UK for these subjects, and our Biology and Ecology courses were ranked ninth.
As the largest department in Lancaster University, which is among the top 1% of universities worldwide, we pride ourselves on offering both breadth and depth to our students, who can pick and choose modules from across a wide range of subjects spanning both the natural and social sciences.
“It was so varied and interesting. I could be studying shamanism in the Amazon one week, then colonialism in Africa or the making of British countryside. You got to know your lecturers, they were so supportive, constantly encouraging,” said Rachel Winter, who graduated in geography.
All of our students have the opportunity to go on fields trips both locally in the varied and beautiful landscapes of North West England and internationally in Spain, Italy, Iceland, Croatia, the USA, Brazil and Tunisia. We also have a range of study abroad schemes that allow you to do the second year of your degree in a foreign country, or to study in Europe for a few months.
Employment prospects for our graduates are excellent, benefitting from LEC’s unique onsite Business and Enterprise Partnerships which is home to more than 20 commercial companies, and helps students find work placements and internships.
