Lancaster is ranked 6th in the UK and top in the North West for Geography and Environmental Studies in the 2019 Guardian League Table
This is the sixth year running that Lancaster is in the top ten for these subjects in the Guardian’s University rankings. Biological Sciences came 16th and again was top in the North West. All the subjects did particularly well on career prospects.
Universities are ranked according to: course satisfaction; teaching quality; feedback; staff-student ratio; spend per student; average entry tariff; a value-added score that compares students’ degree results with their entry qualifications; career six months after graduating and the percentage of students dropping out in their first year.
Lancaster University overall came 9th in the UK and top in the North West.
The Guardian result builds on other recent league table successes for Lancaster Environment Centre subjects. In the 2019 Complete University Guide, Lancaster ranked 8th in the UK for Geography and Environmental Sciences, and 8th for Biological Sciences. Geography and Environmental Sciences at Lancaster were also in the World Top 100 in the 2018 QS World University Rankings.
Professor Phil Barker, director of the Lancaster Environment Centre, welcomed the results and the continued success of the Centre’s graduates in the workplace: “What students do after their degrees is a key part in how we make a positive difference to global challenges and environmental issues.”
Lancaster University is currently the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide University of the Year.
