Work Placements

In addition to gaining a Masters you will have opportunities to work alongside organisations and gain industry experience which is relevant to your degree scheme and career path. This experience can play a vital role in enhancing your employability. LEC has an Enterprise and Business Partnerships (EBP) team which is dedicated to developing links between LEC academics and students with a range of organisations and external partners. At LEC students have the option to undertake their dissertation alongside an external partner, which the EBP team helps to facilitate. This enables you to gain industry experience, develop commercial contacts and deliver a research project which can have real life impact. You would work on a well-defined problem and as well as an industrial supervisor you would receive guidance from a member of academic staff.

You will also have the opportunity to apply for an internship whilst studying at LEC. This is a paid piece of work which you do in addition to your academic studies. Each year over 80 organisations put forward internship projects for students to deliver, some of which will be relevant to your degree scheme. These roles are competitive and students need to apply and interview for each post. Take a look at the Faculty Internship Programme website for further details.

EBP have contacts with many varied organisations for you to tap into. External project partners have included:
