Funding

We offer several funding opportunities for LEC Masters degrees in 2014/15:

 China Partnership Bursaries

  • Eligible Scheme(s): All LEC Masters degrees
  • Scholarship amount: 12 bursaries worth £2,000
  • Who can apply: These are open to Chinese applicants only

 Heatherlea Bursary

  • Eligible Scheme(s): MSc Ecology and Conservation
  • Scholarship amount: One scholarship worth £1,500
  • Who can apply: This is open to UK and EU applicants

 Lancaster Environment Centre Scholarships

  • Eligible Scheme(s): All LEC Masters degrees
  • Scholarship amount: Several scholarships worth £1,500 (UK & EU applicants) and £3,000 (Overseas applicants)
  • Who can apply: These are open to UK, EU and Overseas applicants

Application Process

To be considered for any of the above you need to:

  1. Already have an offer of a place on a relevant LEC Masters degree.
  2. Email the LEC PG Office with a short supporting statement, including your name, applicant ID and reason(s) why you should be considered for funding (max 250 words).

We can only consider applicants who apply via this route. Funding will be allocated based on the information provided in your email and the information supplied on your application form.

We will apply the following criteria when allocating funding:

  • academic excellence, for example 1st class/high 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
  • awards for academic performance, publication of dissertation
  • relevant work/voluntary experience.

The Dr Philip Welch Scholarship

  • Eligible Scheme(s)MSc Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security
  • Scholarship amount: One scholarship worth £1,000
  • Who can apply: These are open to UK, EU and Overseas applicants

Application Process

To be considered for the above you need to:

  1. Already have an offer of a place on the MSc Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security degree.
  2. Email Dr Ian Dodd with a one page supporting statement (Arial 12 font, 2.5 cm margins, 1.5 line spacing) addressing two issues:
  • How this donation will help you realise your educational ambitions.
  • Your ideas for dissertation research in the area of Sustainable Agriculture & Food Security.

By midnight (UK time) on Thursday 31 July 2014

Other Funding Sources

British Hydrological Society MSc Studentships:

Studentships are advertised on the BHS website now, with a deadline in the summer.

  • Eligible Scheme(s): MSc Sustainable Water Management
  • Scholarship amount: Several scholarships worth £1,000
  • Who can apply: This is open to UK applicants

 

The University website includes a directory of external sources of postgraduate funding.

FindAMasters is offering 8 Masters Scholarships for students wishing to start a Masters course in Autumn 2014 at any EU institution.

Peel Trust Studentships are available for the support of prospective or current Lancaster University students. The award is based on academic merit and financial hardship and is up to an individual maximum of £2500.

UK applicants may also wish to consider a Professional and Career Development Loan.
