Glacier-Landscape Interactions, Iceland

Experience glacial processes first-hand and their impacts on the dynamic tectonic landscape of Iceland.

During this week long field course, you will be based in Southern Iceland, where glaciers interact with volcanic environments and processes of this mid-ocean ridge island. The focus of this practical field course is to understand how glaciers interact with the surrounding landscape, as well as developing your practical field skills such as observation and recording, mapping geomorphological features and logging of snowpack properties.

In addition to observing the stunning Icelandic scenery, the course is designed to stimulate learning in the physical sciences and you will further develop your enthusiasm for glaciology and understand how glaciers fit into the broader study of the physical environment.
