Supporting Schools and Community

Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) welcomes interaction with schools, the public and society.

We engage in activities such as:

  • University taster days, where year 12 students visit LEC, and other science departments, for a taste of university-style learning.
  • Curriculum support events for many A-level subjects including Geography, Geology and Biology as well as the environmental aspects of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

  • Subject update courses for teachers in the geographical, geological and science of the environment fields.
  • Talks at schools to classes, gifted and talented clubs, and evening lectures to the local community.

We recognise the importance of a number of stages within the school sector, especially year 5/6, year 9, year 11 and year 12 where crucial subject choices are made and many futures determined.

If we can contribute to your school then please get in touch by contacting Prof. Phil Haygarth for further information.

Alternatively, visit our central Schools and College Liaison page for further opportunities for schools, colleges and prospective students.
