Living in Lancaster

Living in Lancaster

Lancaster is one of the UK’s top 10 most vibrant cities and has an established arts scene with the Storey Institute, The Dukes cinema, the Grand Theatre and LUDUS Dance Company to name a few city-based arts organisations. It prides itself on its First Fridays which are a monthly multi-disciplinary mini-festival of the arts organised by Lancaster Arts City. Each event brings together artists and performers from the local and national scene in venues across Lancaster, featuring music, literature, drama, visual arts, cinema, poetry and much more.

There is also a whole host of events and festivals taking place in Lancaster throughout the year - with everything from food and drink to arts, jazz and literature, there's something for everybody. Highlights include our outside theatre at Williamson Park, Vintage By the Sea festival in Morecambe, the Lunesdale Arts Trail, and the annual Lancaster Music Festival.

The city also has a thriving shopping scene and is proud of its Charter Market, Vintage Shops and independent retailers including Arteria, Fruits of the Lune and Studio Arts. LICA recognises the importance of employability for future graduates and we have close links with the following creative industries across the North West:
