Why did you choose LICA?
I chose to study design at LICA as it is an effective pairing with Marketing and allows me to express my creativity. During an open day at Lancaster University I was really impressed with the LICA building and the opportunities on offer.
I have found that a lot of the studies offered within design have helped me in my other major and vice versa.
What has been the best part of your course so far?
The best part of Design is being able to work independently with other like-minded students on projects that combine both my marketing skills and design practices. Working on projects such as Ethnographic research and having the freedom to create a new learning space within LICA. Also, the lecturers are experts in their field and really helpful throughout the course.
What do you do outside of your degree, for instance, are you involved in any societies or work part time?
Outside of my degree, I am a member of the Advertising Society, a Student Ambassador for the Management School and also work part-time as a Team Leader at Lancaster’s Student Union nightclub, The Sugarhouse. All of which I thoroughly enjoy.
What’s ‘Lancaster Life’ like?
Lancaster Life is great. The more you get involved with, the more you get out of it. Campus facilities are some of the best, especially now with the newly refurbished library. The university is inclusive and whether you live on or off campus, it still feels like home.
Any advice for potential LICA applicants?
If you are applying for a combined major, ensure your subject outside of LICA compliments your studies within LICA; it makes life a lot easier when you can draw on prior knowledge from both courses.
Apply for Bowland or County College, the accommodation is closest to LICA. It gives you an extra 10 minutes in bed!
