Central to the mission of Lancaster University is a strong and productive partnership between students and staff. Your University and Students’ Union have worked together on a Lancaster University Students' Charter to articulate this relationship and the standards to which the University and its students aspire.
The University has formulated a policy statement on bullying and harassment together with guidelines on its implementation and made it fully available to all staff and students.
Student Wellbeing Services and Learning Support
The Counselling and Mental Health services offers a free and confidential service to help students address any personal or emotional problems that affect them. If you are a student and wish to access counselling you should complete the student online self-referral form. (please note that the appointments link is not working on this page).
The University has been developing the Disability Service for students for more than 20 years and aims to help all prospective and current students who have a disability. If you have a medical condition or impairment that is classified as a disability, then Disability Services can help provide support. You may be eligible for specialist equipment, access to support workers or adaptations to study materials, assessments and exams.
External Examiners Reports
External examiner reports form an essential component of the University’s annual monitoring process and procedures. Reports, and departmental responses to the reports, are made available to students. You can access the reports for LAEL postgraduate programs using the link below; you will need to login with your Lancaster nentwork account.
Lancaster University provides travel insurance to any student of Lancaster University who is undertaking a trip on behalf of the University. This could include attending international conferences and/or workshops, or to collect data for their thesis. Please remember that if you extend your trip for personal reasons, you will not be covered during that time. In other words, you are covered only for the days/travel that is directly related to your studies.

The Careers Service provides information and guidance on gaining employment, work placements, further study and developing your skills. Our Careers specialists are here to provide students with information on going into work, further study and developing skills.
Lancaster University LAEL Society is a society designed for both students and enthusiasts of Linguistics and English Language. They host both talks and lectures, as well as social events, meals and meet-ups. They have weekly drop in sessions for students and run study groups around exam times. Become a member of the LAEL Society for £3. The LAEL Society hold both members only and all welcome events. Lancaster University Confucius Institute
The Lancaster University Confucius Institute offers Mandarin Chinese Language Classes for staff and students as well as cultural activities. The Confucius Institute is an official HSK and HSKK test centre in the United Kingdom.
