Partnerships

The Department of Linguistics and English Language is proud to maintain active research links with many leading universities around the world.

In addition to our exchange programs, we also maintain three special partnerships with universities in Belgium, China, and Chile. These research and teaching partnerships typically involve regular staff and student exchanges, collaborative research initiatives as well as joint degree schemes.

Ghent University

Lancaster-Ghent Initiative (2016-2019)

We have recently agreed to work closely with the Department of Linguistics at Ghent University. Ghent University was founded in 1817 and rapidly developed into one of the leading universities in Belgium and Europe. Each year, delegations of Lancaster staff and students visit Ghent to discuss their research and to promote collaborative research projects. For more information, including news, please visit our dedicated Lancaster-Ghent website.

BFSU

Lancaster-BFSU Partnership

Lancaster University has had strong ties with Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), one of the most prestigious foreign language teaching universities in China, for over 20 years. The Department of Linguistics and English Language participates in this partnership by contributing several degree programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate) with BFSU. We also welcome BFSU undergraduate students as part of an active study-abroad program. For more information please see Transfer Programmes in China.

UCBC

Lancaster-UCBC Partnership (2016-2020)

The Department of Linguistics and English Language has recently signed a four-year agreement with the Universidad Chileno-Británica de Cultura (UCBC) in Santiago, Chile. This is a partnership focused on regular staff exchanges between the two institutions, which are well-matched in terms of research interests.
