Receive access to regular forecasting mentoring

‌What is it that makes being mentored in forecasting so successful?

Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. Plutarch said that “the mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled”. Both share the view that knowledge can best be transferred in action, and best-practices best encountered when put-in-practice and lived together. Mentoring does stoke the flames of ambition, getting you thinking in different ways, and supporting you as you explore routes you’d never dreamed of traveling. Therefore this way of engaging with leading forecasting expertise is not only time efficient, but also more engaging than many 'hit-and-run' consultancy projects.

The Lancaster Centre for Forecasting offers an executive mentoring programme for individuals and steams in companies and government. Industry professionals are partnered with a senior member of LCF to serve as their mentor for an initial one-year period, often extending the collaboration for many years beyond. Engagements involve regular one-to-one-meeting and annual workshops (within the company, or off-site organised at Lancaster or at another convenient location) to review an annual plans on forecasting developments going forward, and to allow for some time for real out-of-the-box thinking.

Talk to us for a custom made offer for your own mentoring, or that of your whole team. Please contact the centre’s director, Dr Sven F Crone, at s.crone@lancaster.ac.uk for further details.
