Peter Neary FBA is an economist specialising in international trade. He is Professor of Economics at Oxford University, and a Professor Fellow of Merton College, Oxford as well as Associate Member of Nuffield Collge Oxford.
On the occasion of the bicentenary of Ricardo's publication (1817) that set forth the concept of 'comparative advantage' (i.e. the cornerstone of international trade), Professor Neary reviews the seminal contributions of Ricardo to the field of international trade and what else we have learned since then. He then brings this academic discussion to the policy arena to understand how it can inform the debate on the type of trade relationships the UK should have after Brexit.
